Empowering Educators

Designing Accredited Professional Growth

Classification: Private Sector / External Training / Educational Design / Professional Development / Facilitation / Virtual & In-Person

Objective: Design professional development training for NSW secondary teachers that addresses and satisfies accreditation requirements as set by the Education Minister’s Priority Areas and the education standard descriptors from the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).

Summary: MNP designed a professional development programme focused on empowering self-motivated learners for use by NSW secondary school teachers. This was first delivered face-to-face in a pilot session and the feedback was used to iteratively refine it into the course Empowering Self-Motivated Learners: A Framework for Secondary Educators. Feedback demonstrated success in providing a framework that was actionable, accessible, and robust in both its research base and relevance to addressing increased hardship in secondary students engaging with their learning. The program is now being turned into a virtual course to allow greater access for both regional and casual staff amid the state teacher crisis, in collaboration with ClassCover to help succeed in this goal of accessibility.

Accreditation Status: Approved by a ClassCover NESA representative, now under formal review by NESA.

RYEAP’s Trailblazing Journey in Regional NSW.

Classification: State Government / External Training / Educational Design / Facilitation / Stakeholder Management / Virtual & In-Person

Objective: Co-Design, deliver, and refine an entrepreneurship development pilot programme aimed at regional NSW high school students to encourage local business initiatives and collaborations.

Summary: MNP collaborated with both The Scale Institute and Investment NSW to bring a community-centred entrepreneurship program to regional schools in NSW. This involved managing expectations and objectives between the client (Scale Institute), the pilot investors (Investment NSW), and the community participants (schools and local business owners) to ensure success through a number of different lenses. The program was delivered successfully to all 20 schools in the pilot and data collected both on the ground and following the program exceeded the expectations of stakeholder groups. The RYEAP is now in review for scale to 200 different regional schools in NSW.

Testimonial Excerpt: Matthew's facilitation was of the highest quality. His ability to engage with high school students was evident from the outset. He curated an environment that was both welcoming and intellectually stimulating, which allowed for dynamic and constructive sessions.

-Stephen Rutter, Founder, The Scale Institute.
